Anyone visiting the St Andrews area of Scotland for a golf package must certainly include Kingsbarns, probably the best Scotland links course built in the last 50 years.
Since its opening in 2000, Kingsbarns has firmly established itself as a must play in Scotland. Currently the course is ranked #71 in the world with credit to developer Mark Parsinen and designer Kyle Phillips. Located about 6 miles down the coast from St Andrews, it is often the highest-rated course by Pioneer Golf customers based on overall satisfaction!
Why? The service at Kingsbarns is unmatched as the team is dedicated to making your visit memorable. From the minute you are greeted at arrival, to the check-in process, the tee gifts from the gracious starter and the excellent caddie program, every part of the Kingsbarns experience is outstanding. After golf, the menu and friendly service in the quaint clubhouse bar and restaurant is second to none in the golf rich St Andrews area.
Interestingly, golf at Kingsbarns dates to 1793 but that original course was plowed into farmland over the years. Then, a California based ownership team bought and built the course in 1990 and began the new development. The Royal & Ancient GC of St Andrews was so enamored with the facility that they bought a significant share of the operation. If there is ever a stamp of approval in Scotland golf, the R&A is it!
Now a host of the annual Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the European PGA Tour, Kingsbarns is a par 72 true links course and stretches from 5,257 to 7,224 yards with five sets of tees. This allows the course to be very playable and walk-able for all levels of players. Kingsbarns is a pleasure to play and will remain etched in your mind for years to come!
“Kingsbarns has moved to the top of my list and may be one of the most picturesque courses in the world.”
