Who this course is best for:

Anyone who wants to play the best golf course in the Southern Hemisphere.

Overview:

Royal Melbourne West:

The Royal Melbourne Golf Club West Course was designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie in 1926 and local champion Alex Russell. It is now considered the finest golf course in the southern hemisphere. With 12 holes part if the Composite Course, the RMGC West Course  is the host of the 2019 Presidents Cup. Captains Tiger Woods and Ernie Els are familiar with the course having experienced the 1998 and 2011 President’s Cups at Royal Melbourne.  Known for fast greens and superb bunkering, RMGC West is ranked #11 in the world by GOLF Magazine. The rolling topography and gorgeous bunkers are what makes this course so beautiful.  The West Course Pioneer Golf Staff comments: “it ranks right up there with St Andrews, Pebble Beach and the best of them”, “RMGC has to be the best 36-hole private club in the world” and “the best Alister MacKenzie course you can actually get on”.

Royal Melbourne East:

The less well known of the two Royal Melbourne courses, The East Course is just as fun to play but just a little bit shorter.  Six of the Composite Course holes are from the East Course for the 2019 Presidents Cup. These holes were lengthened as much as possible for today’s modern players. This course is by not means a pushover just because the West is more famous.  In fact, the East Course has been ranked a world top 100 in years past. The Pioneer Golf Staff says: “I thought it was just as good as the West”, “I would play either course at Royal they are both fantastic” and “fastest greens I ever played”.
