Scotland Climate and Weather
The word from the Scotsman is that the weather is indeed unpredictable, with a few exceptions — May tends to be the sunniest month, while July and August tend to be the hottest, and April is usually the driest.
Generally, Scotland is cool, but daily weather is unpredictable and extremely variable. January and February are the coldest months, averaging 41°F to 45°F, and summer has average temperatures of 66°F during its warmest months of July and August. Scottish weather is on average cooler than that of England. The coldest areas are the Highlands; the northern latitude means short winter days and very long summer evenings. The East Coast has more sunshine, but colder winters, compared to the west.

Ireland Climate and Weather
Ireland has a temperate climate. Summer (May to September) is the warmest and driest season and is the best time to visit, though attractions can get crowded in July and August. Winter is characterized by short, wet, foggy days and long nights, but the temperature rarely gets below freezing due to the tempering Gulf Stream winds that buffet the west coast of Ireland.

In most cases, if a course is officially closed as a result of inclement weather before you begin play then you will receive a refund. However, if a course is closed while you are playing, refunds will be issued at the discretion of the golf club, and are usually unlikely. Unless the weather is particularly stormy or the course is waterlogged, courses will not close because of rain.
