Overview:

“Metro” was designed in 1908 by J.B. Mackenzie, with 8 holes relocated by Dick Wilson in 1961, making a marked difference in the challenging aspects of the course. As a rather flat layout, the course has length and balance to challenge the expert player. An interesting feature is that the putting surfaces run straight into the bunker ledges, with no fringe or intermediate cut as a break. With the holes lined by many gum trees, the golfer needs to place shots in order to have favorable openings to the greens. This feature, along with the new bunkers designed by Dick Wilson, and recent upgrades by Tom Doak and Michael Clayton, has place Metropolitan Golf Course among the top 5 classic courses in Australia. It is ranked #79 on Golf Digest’s top-100 courses in the world.

Testimonials

“As a group we discussed what we could have done differently and the only thing we came up with  . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  we should have stayed longer and played more golf.”
