Who this course is best for:

A golfer staying in Carnoustie who wants to play a traditional links.

Overview:

This course has recently undergone a 3 year recovery programme under the head greenkeeper Scott Rennie and is in excellent condition with well grassed narrow running fairways, lush semi-rough, penal heavy rough and fast consistent greens not to mention the deep revetted bunkers to test any standard of golfer.

Ian McLeod, former PGA Golf Professional at Monifieth Links, summarised the course:

“I have been the golf pro here at Monifieth for over 40 years. You would think that I would get bored with playing the same course for that length of time. The beauty of Links course and almost uniquely East Of Scotland Links courses is that they vary so much due to the constantly changing strengths and directions of the wind. I have seen conditions which turned a drive and wedge par 4 into an unreachable 2 shotter in the same day.

Monifieth is sandwiched between two marvellous Open Championship courses in St Andrews to the South, and Carnoustie to the East. If you are planning a trip to this area give us a visit! I promise you that you will not be disappointed, in fact many have pencilled in Monifieth as a must return venue. We also serve a damn fine pint of beer!!”
